competency - Achievement Orientation

 
Achievement Orientation.

·      Identifies and analyzes problems.  Distinguishes between relevant and irrelevant information to make logical decisions.  Provides solutions to individual and organizational problems.
·         Proactive and results oriented.
·         Exercises good judgment by making sound, well-informed and on time decisions
·         Ensure that projects are within the plan - activity , budget and timeline
·         Monitors and evaluates plans.

·         Understands linkages between competencies and mission needs

Situaner: A sales executive is as good as his last performance. He must consistently provide the numbers assigned to him. Sense of purpose. Attitude of providing value to once organization and life itself. The discipline of value generation every month, very week, every day, every hour, every minute and every second.

Skill Builder Program:

1.      Brainstorm patriotism and nationalism in relation to personal situation. Gratitude to the institutions which molded your person.
2.      Solicit feedback from others to better understand how they perceive your decision making capabilities. 
3.      Volunteer for fire duty where you have to make urgent, important decisions.
4.      Seek out complex tasks or projects.
5.      Lead or organize discussions of complex technical issues or problems.
6.      Always consider ideas and opinions of others. Two minds work better than one.
7.      Study and execute Scientific approach to problem solving.
8.      Volunteer to serve on a task force or committee.
9.      Work on puzzles (crossword, brain teasers, etc.).
10.  Serve as a mentor. 
11.  Shadow a manager whose decision making style you respect.
12.  Maintain a Journal: Write and/or discuss the factors you considered in arriving at a significant decision either in your work or personal life. Evaluate the consequences.
13.  Volunteer to lead a project with a short deadline.
14.  Volunteer to help others resolve problems.

Illustration:

Mike, a booking salesman in Central Luzon, has a sales gap of 20% versus company norm. Anticipating risks at his predicament, he wakes up 4am on Monday morning to start his route early. On his way out of his boarding house the rain begun to fall hard. Arriving at the warehouse, news appeared on TV of a storm signal no.2 in the area. Mike driven by his performance would not be swayed and instructed his driver and assistant to fill the truck with deliveries. 20 stores were serviced when floods begun to fill the roads. Relentless, Mike takes another route and until his 45th store did his BSP and achieved his target for the day in volume and Call Rate.
